Harmony is about those moments of zen. He knows he'll wipe out every now and again. For nothing can beat Wiping sand from his feet And shouting out loud, "Let's chill and HANG 10!"
Amity comes from the Latin amicitas, meaning friendship, which traces back to amicus — friend — and further still to amare, to love.
Amity likes to say he’s Latin. We don’t have the heart to tell him that Latin is a dead language, and he’s really speaking pig latin.
Amity is all about Harmony.
Harmony is a state where different or even opposing pieces fit together into something balanced and cosmic, man.
He says it’s when “celestial bodies produce a kind of cosmic music through their movement, duuuuude.” Of course, that may have come from the time he tied his headband too tight and passed out in the taco bar at the diner.
Regardless, it’s a cool and far out way to think about the world, right? Kinda like notes coming together to make a chord. The pleasing effect comes specifically from the notes being different, not identical.
Harmony needs the gap between notes to work. Ya dig?
That’s why he’s made it his mission to seek out what he calls The Righteous B-Sides in Betwixt - people who love music just as much as he does, but have different tastes.
A 45 can’t have an A-Side without a B-Side. No one can be a hit alone.
Amity is a character, not a diagnosis. Amity is not about harmony any more than a kid is about their hair color. Please introduce them as a neighbor.
